Ever wondered what goes on in our floral studio and how we make the beautiful weddings?

I’d like to introduce a wonderful lifestyle photographer Tjasa Kalamar who captured us working on Anna & Steve’s early May wedding.

As you can see, the theme was vintage with a special nod to tea cups and saucers. We also used vintage milk bottles dressed with lace ribbons. Tsaja shot us working as we filled the milk bottles with blowsy roses and astilbe for a romantic yet airy look. She has totally captured the romance of this look and I’m thrilled with these pictures. And no behind the scenes pictures are complete without Flo. Here she is with her fringe in here eyes, bless!

Another lovely workshop with more lovely ladies!

Saturday’s hand-tied bouquet class was a pleasure to teach and once again the standard was really high. We used vibrant early summer flowers; fragrant stocks with pretty dahlia and lisianthus.

Attendee Kirsteen took this picture of her beautiful hand-tied bouquet  at home in vintage jug after the class. It looks beautiful, I am very proud of her! See what you can make after just one workshop!

I absolutely loved on Vicki and Ed’s vintage wedding at the Andaz Hotel this weekend, such a lovely family and Vicki’s vision meant I was able to do my signature style with eclectic vases and cake-stands (which was a treat as it’s been a while since I’ve done them)

The inspiration for the flowers came from Vicki’s stunning 1920s style Jenny Packham dress. We went for elegant but informal with a subtle colour palette of ivory, champagne, light peach and tea-stained roses. The star flowers were the Juliet David Austin roses and Amnesia roses. The professional will be back soon but here are a few of mine for now. Enjoy!

It was an absolute pleasure to be involved the Gaynes Park showcase last week, a fantastic opportunity to get creative at one my fave venues and do our signature vintage style. The sun came out in the afternoon and the barns and surrounding countryside looked beautiful. Our studio is based in Hackney so hearing the sheep as you work is a real joy!

It was all about spring flowers for Brooke and Kieran’s March wedding at the Andaz Hotel. Well, tulips to be precise. White tulips, frilly tulips, parrot tulips and blush pink tulips! We added to the mix hyacinths, anemones, freesia and rannunculus but really it was about the tulips.

This wedding was a lesson in contemporary elegance. We had domes and domes of stunning spring flowers in white, greens and blush pinks in modern containers. For the table centres we arranged the domes in clusters and added succulents and fuzzy plants to the table. They worked really adding greenery in a clean and simple way, grounding the clusters.

How amazing does Brooke look in her stunning with her Vera Wang dress? And of course the bouquet just makes it! For a textured but fuss-free look we used different spring flowers with no foliage.

Stunning arrangements of 2m tall blossom, orchids and hydrangea added the wow factor when guests in the 1901 room for the wedding breakfast. Take a look below, the beautiful pictures are  by Alex Beckett

When super talented artist and fellow Hackney Downs resident Lauren Baker asked me to be involved in her Save the Wild Tigers shoot, I had to say YES! Did you know there are only 3’500 left in the wild and they could be extinct within 10 years?!

Lauren’s life-size tiger head sculpture was encrusted with 35’000 swarovski crystals. Jamie Winstone and Ash Stymest modeled her sculpture and the stunning pics are below. After the shoot, Lauren’s piece was sold at a charity auction raising  £10’000 for this fantastic cause- well done girl!

I’m so excited to be involved in dressing this stunning venue for the Showcase next month. If you haven’t chosen your venue yet then you must take a look.

Gaynes Park is one of my favourite venues to work in, and it’s not just because it has won Wedding Venue of the Year! It’s a romantic setting for a wedding; it’s set in the idyllic countryside and has tasteful barns and beautiful gardens. What’s not to love?

Now that my wedding season has officially started (as of last Saturday)  I thought I’d share with you what my stylish couples are going for this year. There are some definite trends and I love them all.

Floral Circlets

Inspired by Kate Moss’s romantic nuptials, this look works on cute flower girls and the Boho bride alike. I’m seeing circlets increasingly worn by brides but it’s still more popular with the flower girls. If you love the romance of this look but are having a city wedding, opt for one type of flower for a cleaner look as we did for Heidi’s wedding, below.

The “just picked” Bouquet

This is the floral equivalent of natural make-up, it actually takes time and thought to make a bouquet look like it’s just been picked! Texture is key so foliage is just as important as the flowers. This works well with vintage style dresses, especially those made from lace.

The Duchess Effect

Many of my clients are still drawing inspiration from the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding flowers. We only saw her bouquet but that hasn’t stopped many of my Brides from channeling royalty by opting for silver containers, in particular  silver-footed bowls. These regal containers are still some of the most popular choices for table centres. I like to keep the arrangements dome-shaped but soften the over all look by using mixing roses with hydrangea.

Really excited about our first wedding of 2013 tomorrow, it’s going to be Springtacular!

We’re mainly using tulips as they are Brooke’s favourite, so we’ve got parrot tulips, frilly tulips, plain white tulips and soft pink tulips. We’re making domes of one type of flower for a simple and elegant look. There’s rannunculus, anemones and hyacinths too. And did I mention tulips?

Today we’ve been busy making table centres so I thought I’d post some behind the scenes pictures of our progress. You can then see the finished articles once we’ve set up tomorrow. Exciting!
